Dearest Theatre Lovers,
With hearts brimming with affection and excitement, we invite you to be swept away by She Loves Me. This enchanting musical, filled with romance, humor and a touch of old-world charm, will transport you into a world where love blooms in the most unexpected places. Like a perfectly penned love letter, She Loves Me unfolds the tale of two feuding shop clerks who, unbeknownst to them, are secret pen pals, pouring their hearts into anonymous letters. Set against the backdrop of a 1930s European perfume shop, this story reminds us that sometimes, love is closer than we think. If this plot sounds familiar, it should! She Loves Me and the film You’ve Got Mail were both based on the 1937 play Parfumerie.
Bringing these unsuspecting pen pals to life are Josh Diveley (in his Town Theatre debut) as Georg Nowack and Elizabeth Rawson (Beautiful) as Amalia Balash. Adding a touch of workplace intrigue are Sara Slaughter (Something Rotten) as the vivacious Ilona Ritter and Tristan Robinson (Pippin with USC Off Off Broadway) as the charming yet roguish Steven Kodaly. Rounding out the parfumerie team are Ethan Wilson (Beauty and the Beast) as the affable Ladislav Sipos, Rich Fisher (White Christmas) as the steadfast Mr. Maraczek, and Tommy Osburn (making his Town debut) as the eager Arpad Laszlo.
We are also thrilled to introduce ensemble members Nicholas Baden, Joanne Ferster, Christi Fletcher, Grace Kenderine, Lauren Sudduth and Stephanie Villamizar, all making their Town Theatre debut. Returning to grace our stage are The Sound of Music’s Bryann Burgess and Pheobe Havrid, The Music Man’s Bill Bentley, and Beauty and the Beast’s Valerie Weingart.
Guiding this production to life are director Jane Cato, music director Becky Loar, and choreographer Bill Bentley. Costumes are designed by Jillian Bigony, with wig and hair artistry by Jodie Harris. Annika Philips ensures a seamless production as stage manager. Town’s exceptional technical team includes Bob Bramhall on set design, Jeremy Hansard leading set construction and lighting design, with David LaTorre assisting on construction and serving as props master.
With a delightful score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and a witty book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret), this production promises to enchant, captivate, and leave you utterly smitten.
With admiration and devotion to our show sponsors, Carolina Children’s Dentistry and The State Newspaper, we invite you to join us from March 21 to April 6. Tickets are available to priority members starting March 4, regular members starting March 6, and the public starting March 11.
This production promises to enchant, captivate, and leave you utterly smitten. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic, a lover of classic musicals, or simply seeking an evening of sheer joy, She Loves Me is our heartfelt gift to you.
With all our love,
Town Theatre
