Raise the Roof

Hear ye, hear ye!

The talk about Town is…

We’ve invited you to “walk all over us”…
We’ve asked you to help us “build a wall” of playbill plaques…
We’ve invited you to come to Town Theatre for several “late night” events…

Why, you ask?

                       Town Theatre's new steps

One goal was to replace the steps that lead from the auditorium by two of the exit doors to ensure your safety as you leave the theatre.
A second goal was to replace the aging roof over the auditorium itself which has served well for forty years but is no longer a viable covering.
That’s why we’ve asked for your help! And we wanted to let you know where we are in these processes.
Goal #1 is achieved! You really may “walk all over us” now because our new steps are complete!

                       plaques on the wall

And our wall of plaques grows each week.
Our trilogies of “late night” events have been the most unique “fun”raisers around.
Our first “fun”raiser was the Cocoa vs. Craft Dance Off which netted more than $1,000 and was a fabulous beginning for these events.

Abigail Smith Ludwig and Scott Stepp

On June 16, Abigail Smith Ludwig and Scott Stepp were crowned King and Queen Diva of Town Theatre before an enthusiastic crowd, following an evening in which they competed in talent, swimsuit and interview. The efforts of the six brave contestants raised more than $2,000 for the Raise the Roof Fund.

                           the bucket brigade

On Saturday, October 20, Frank Thompson and Andy Wells were victorious in their quest to become President and Vice-President of the Town Theatre Bucket Brigade.

Candidates were presented to another enthusiastic audience. Of course, the real winner was the Raise the Roof Fund in that more than $1800 was raised by this event. The roof replacement was begun on November 12 and, as you read this, may already be complete

However…

The fundraising must continue as construction costs have increased for modifications necessitated because the theatre is on the National Register for Historic Buildings. At this point we have raised more than $65,000.00 (including the $35,000.00 from the Richland County Conservation Commission) and we need approximately $12,000 more to complete the roof project.

We welcome anyone who would like to place a plaque on our wall of playbills or make a contribution.
