About the Town Teen Troupe (T3)
T3’s mission is to provide musical theatre/performing arts development and performance opportunities for older youth at Town Theatre. Students are introduced to multiple instructors and offered experiences that are unique. Auditions are held in the late summer with classes beginning in the fall. Students meet weekly for 90-120 minutes.
Classes, in general, will be held from 6:00-7:30 PM/8:00 PM on Sunday evenings. A full roster of class dates will be available soon, but we anticipate starting Aug. 27 and will run through mid-May. We do work with the school calendars to ensure we are not meeting when a majority of the schools are on spring break or major holidays.
What does T3 do? In our second year, T3 accomplished the following:
~Learned a step routine from master step teacher George Moses that was performed pre-show to My Fair Lady.
~Learned a Christmas-themed number (that was combined with the step piece) to perform pre-show to Elf Jr.
~Worked on a four-part vocal holiday piece that was performed pre-show of A Christmas Carol.
~Experienced a vocal master class with touring artist Dan Debenport.
~Planned, prepared and executed auditions for Into the Woods Jr.
~Several students developed an individual or duet number to perform pre-show of You Can’t Take It With You.
~Prepared our production of Into the Woods Jr. which included major character development work, costume design and learning music, lines and blocking.
~Worked with a monologue coach to learn more about how to select pieces for auditions.
~Several students performed pre-show on Town’s patio in advance of Catch Me If You Can.
What’s in store for this next year?
In addition to developing pre-show performances, we intend to have another master class session in the early fall. Our spring show will be a salute to Town Theatre’s 100th anniversary and will be held mid-May 19 & 20.
