Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fish centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.
The ultimate storyteller, Edward Bloom, is taken by Jeremy Hansard (My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins). Will, the son who so desperately wants to know the truth about his dad’s life, is played by a Town newcomer, with tremendous talent, Josh Finch. Will’s younger persona is in the hands of able young actors Nathan Jackson (Willy Wonka, The Little Mermaid) and Jack Seezen (Willy Wonka, Elf Jr.). Edward’s wife, Sandra, is being played by Shannon Willis Scruggs (Always Patsy Cline, Jekyll & Hyde) with Will’s wife, Josephine, being portrayed by Emily Moore (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). The colorful and larger-than-life characters in Edward’s stories are taken by many Town favorites including Agnes Babb (Sweet & Hot, Nine to Five), Lou Boeschen (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Marvelous Wonderettes), Dell Goodrich (Stand By Your Man: The Tammy Wynette Story), Ruth Ann McKee (Hello Dolly!, Les Misérablés), Kristy O’Keefe (Peter Pan, White Christmas) and Rebecca Seezen (Spamalot, Les Misérablés).
Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, Big Fish is an extraordinary new Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.
